Mason Ailstock joined Clemson University in November 2003.  Originally from Annapolis Maryland, Mason received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Clemson University in the fields of architecture and city & regional planning with a focus on real estate development. As the Global Partner Manager for the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR) Mason is responsible for partnership outreach, corporate relations and the development of collaborative opportunities between public, private and governmental partners. Additionally, Mason focuses on the recruitment of R&D and industrial partners from the automotive, energy and motorsports industries and coordinates the private and public sectors to create an environment where world-class education, research and business activities will flourish. The 250 acre CU-ICAR campus promises to make South Carolina a hub of the nations automotive and motorsports industry.

As a LEED BD+C certified professional Mason also serves as the Associate Director of Sustainability and Development for the Clemson University Office of Land & Capital Asset Stewardship. In this capacity Mason leads development efforts focused on environmental sustainability, real estate management and the certification of LEED projects. A key responsibility held by Mason is the development and maintenance of the university wide land and capital asset database used to manage all real properties, real estate gifts, leases and government lands.

Recent leadership roles held by Mason include service on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Green Building Council South Carolina Chapter from 2004-2009, Communications Committee Chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council South Carolina Chapter, member of the South Carolina American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Urban Land Institute (ULI) and member of the Clemson University Environmental Committee.
