Brief abstract:

This project aims at optimizing the current engine assembly line layout and processes. A value stream mapping analyses are conducted to characterize the processes sequence, value added, and resource allocation.

Impact:

This project led to better resource management under different demand (volume and mix) scenarios

Such study improves the overall engine line productivity.

Project schedule:

Initiated in 2008 and completed in 2010

Preliminary results:

Resulted in reduction of required resources in terms of space, labor and time.

Resulted in a smooth takt time under different demand scenarios.

Better management of off-line resources and support.
